This show GNOME-PPP trying to autodetect a modem. If you're using a standard external modem, there shouldn't ben any problems, however if you're using a Winmodem, then bear in mind that only some Winmodems are supported. (if yours isn't supported, let us know!)

Here, GNOME-PPP is dialling. Note that our test machine has an internal Conexant Winmodem. It workd "out of the box" and even autodetects your sound system and makes pretend modem noises through your speakers.

Here we are all connected up. Tracepath is running in the window just to prove that we really are online and we really only have a 14.4k connection. (this is a feature of the Winmodem driver, see the FAQ for details)
