When you
insert your USB key into your computer and power it on, this is the
screen that should appear.
At the moment we're supporting four boot
options combining two screen resolutions with either LAN or dialup
access.
|

|
|
Next is the boot screen, we're currently using the
bootsplash loader, although this will go to "gensplash" in the next
version. If you need more detail or things don't go according to plan,
you can press F2 at any time for more detail.
If all goes well, the next thing you'll see will be the login screen.

|
If you're feeling brave and you do press F2, this is the sort of thing you're likely to see going on behind the scenes ...

At the moment we're using GDM with the Hanzley theme and
the Blue Glass animated cursors, which looks pretty cool if you're used
to the old xdm login screen. Note that from here you have a number of options.
You can obviously log in which would probably be your normal course of
action. Right clicking on the system icon will allow you to
shutdown the system, reboot the system, "run the XDMCP chooser" (start
a thin client connection) , or configure the display manager. |

|
|
If you log in as root, this is your initial desktop.
Fairly bland, but you'll be wanting to create a user account (!) and set up the desktop to suit yourself.

Lots of options in Gaim, you'll need gaim-encryption if
you want to use M$ Messenger accounts, and don't forget to tick the
System Tray Icon box to make gaim persistent
