Live CD 2
Actually I know why, I couldn't see an easy way to boot GRUB off a
CDROM. I guess it wan't because it was difficult, just because I'd not
done it before.
Install image / complete download is currently 114Mb as a .iso.bz2 .. :)
The central issue seemed to be that gentoo didn't install the
eltorito stage 2 required as part of the default grub installation. Now
I've got a stage 2 header GRUB booting the CD is easy, in fact the
existing genkernel linuxrc has most of the code required to run up a
live CD.
I've now merged the Flash Linux linuxrc and the gentoo default, and
added the additional code to handle some additional features.
Operationally we're supporting:
- LAN option
- Dialup option ("nodhcp" kernel config)

In terms of media we're supporting;

- Raw USB Flash boot and runtime
- Boot on CD and run from USB Flash
- Boot and run from CD with USB Flash as /home
