JFFS3
35 seconds ...
Is the time it currently takes to mount my JFFS2 key. I've been
playing around with "fbtruetype" so at least we now have some more
verbose message reporting on the "silent" splash screen, but 35 seconds
is still quite a long time.
The fundamental problem seems to be that JFFS2 needs to reconstruct
file chains from logs when it mounts [?!] which essentially means that
it needs to read through the entire key. I'm not sure exactly what
Ferenc has done, but I have hopes that it will cut the mount time to
around 5 seconds .. which I can live with for now.
One of the next tasks is going to be designing a new filesystem
specifically for USB flash. We can live with JFFS2 for now (or even
JFFS3) but it's not designed for USB keys so there is scope for
something much better all round.
Don't worry - the next FL will be release before filesystem work begins .. ;-)
