Come up against a few problems, so making some radical changes
Distros ...
As it turns out, Gentoo (binary packages in particular) doesn't do
exactly what I want. The main problem is a space efficient way of
providing binary updates. Gentoo isn't space efficient to the extent
required and binary packages don't (seem) to work "properly" (for me).
So I'm experimenting with my own Gentoo-like source based (with
binary option) distribution based on the Gentoo Portage tree but using
a cut down ebuild model reworked as "C" and bash. (no python required,
and no 75Mb portage tree)
Thus far I have a working(ish) concept and toolchain implemented using the new tools.
Still testing, but I should be able to produce a bootable environment within a few more days ..
