Isn't it strange how the closer you get to Christmas, the faster time simply disappears ..
Too many things to do, not enough time ..
Couple of points to note:
- If the sequence of discs listed in /dev/discs is not sequential, grub-install will fail
(so /dev/disc0 , /dev/disc1 is Ok, /dev/disc1 , /dev/disc2 will fail) - Booting from CD has a nasty habit of yielding no-sequential lists in /dev/discs
- Duplicate links in /dev/discs will cause grub-install to fail
(so ln /dev/disc0 /dev/disc2 will cause disc0 and disc2 to point at the same device, will will fail!)
